Set up and activate Sales
Open WhatsApp Sales setup, sign in and select the intended workspace. Setup is resumable. Moving between its steps does not activate anything, and unsaved edits need to be saved before the final review.
1. Connect the store
The Store step accepts a public website and offers other supported store connections. Choose the path that matches the access you want. Public website mode reads public pages and directs shoppers to the site's checkout; it does not authorize private store operations.
For a platform connection, follow its connection form and return to setup. Connected and ready to sell are different states. If setup says Selling opens soon, the saved connection is not available for Sales activation. See Store connections for the provider limits.
2. Review the sales rules
Use the Style step to review the assistant's selling style and business instructions. Include the policies it should use for product questions, delivery, returns, discounts and escalation. Keep exceptions and approval requirements explicit.
Save reviewed rules before verification. A generated draft is not a substitute for the business owner's review. Use Knowledge and catalog for supporting documents and source checks.
3. Connect the business number
Follow the WhatsApp step's current options:
- Meta business setup: the owner completes the Meta authorization flow for the intended business and number. Meta may offer an eligible virtual number; business-name approval and availability still apply.
- Existing WhatsApp Business app number: use the coexistence option when offered. Follow its authorization and eligibility checks instead of assuming every existing number can be reused.
- Existing Smarters connection: use the dedicated connection option if your business already has the required Smarters and WhatsApp Business credentials. Enter them only in the authenticated setup form.
- Managed number options: if offered, review current availability, verification requirements and the exact quote before accepting. A quote or carrier approval does not by itself purchase a number or authorize Meta.
New Brazilian managed numbers may require the owner to submit business verification through the hosted setup page. An agent can read the verification status and owner link; it cannot submit the documents on the owner's behalf through the public setup API.
Do not replace an existing sender connection to bypass a blocked setup. An already-bound channel can require a separate migration. For an eligible iMessage setup, the dedicated line must already be assigned and the owner must explicitly connect it; unavailable assignments remain blocked.
4. Verify, then review billing
Select Verify agent setup after saving the store and rules and completing the provider connection. Verification checks the current store, sender and supported configuration; it prepares an inactive assistant.
A failed or expired check needs attention before activation. A website change can require a fresh verification. Refresh the setup state and follow its specific next action rather than treating an earlier successful check as permanent.
Review the billing step's current agreement and owner action. Outcome terms and card authorization require the owner; existing prepaid agreements have their own funding requirements. Paying or saving a card does not switch the assistant on.
5. Go live and confirm
Review the business, store, number, rules and billing. Choose Go live only when you intend the assistant to start real customer work under the accepted agreement.
Activation requested is not yet a confirmed live state. Refresh or use Retry activation request to reconcile the saved request. When activation is confirmed, open the supplied WhatsApp link and inspect a small customer interaction.
Use Pause agent to request a stop. If the page says a pause is waiting for confirmation, keep that distinction visible: the request has been recorded, but the stop is not yet confirmed. Check the resulting state before making another change.
