Work with Milo in Microsoft Teams

Milo works in the Microsoft Teams conversations where it has been added and authorized. Your administrator or team owner may need to approve its installation and permissions.

The installation scope matters: access in one team or chat does not imply access throughout the organization.

Bring Milo into the conversation

Milo currently answers in channels when addressed, such as with an @mention or a reply in a thread it is already part of. Its answer is grounded in the conversation it is participating in. It does not currently read a channel's wider history to provide a general catch-up.

@Milo summarize the open questions in this discussion and prepare a review agenda. Identify the person responsible for each answer where the conversation states one.

In a private or shared channel, someone in that channel must add Milo there. Milo's replies in a private channel stay in that channel.

Know what meeting access means

Teams permissions can provide meeting basics, such as title, time and organizer, for supported installations. They do not provide meeting audio, video or transcripts. A request to recap a meeting's chat should not be treated as a transcript-based recap.

Account and administrator controls

Connecting a Microsoft work account for Outlook and files is a separate source of access. Your administrator can remove Milo or revoke its permissions in Microsoft 365.

Review the application privacy policy for the current per-install permissions and optional organization-wide permissions. If Milo is missing from a conversation, check its installation and the permissions approved for that location.
