Work with Milo in Google Chat

When Milo is added to Google Chat, Google sends it the messages directed to it. These include direct messages to the app and messages in a space or group conversation that mention Milo or use one of its commands.

Milo does not receive the other messages in a space through this integration.

Ask in the right conversation

@Milo turn the decisions in this message into a short action list. Keep the named owners and deadlines, and flag anything that is still undecided.

Supply the context the task needs. Do not assume that Milo can read a discussion merely because it is in the same space.

Milo matches the sender to their Milo account, so the account and connections you already use also matter to the response.

Sending as Milo or as you

By default, Milo acts as the app. If you choose to let it send in Google Chat as you, Google asks for separate permission to send messages and create conversations. Those sending permissions do not grant access to read your chat history.

State the recipient and message you want sent. Check the audience before requesting delivery of information from a connected source.

Remove access

Removing the app from a chat or space, or having an administrator uninstall it, stops Google from sending Milo information from there. You can also disconnect the optional send-as connection on the Connections page.

The application privacy policy explains the current permissions and how these controls interact with your Google account.
