Connections
A connection gives Milo access to information or actions through an account you authorize. The provider's consent flow shows the access being requested. Milo can use only the permissions granted and the tools enabled for your account or team.
Connect the accounts needed for the work you want to do.
To start a conversation through a messaging app, use the WhatsApp guide or the guide for your team's messaging service. Account connections determine what data and actions Milo can use.
Before connecting
Check which account holds the source material. A personal mailbox, a work mailbox and a shared company system can have different owners and permissions.
You need authority to connect the account. Your organization may require an administrator to approve an app or its permissions.
Connect an account
- Open Connections in Milo and choose the provider for the account you want to use.
- Sign in to that provider with the account that holds your work. Check the account address before continuing.
- Review the provider's requested permissions and complete its consent flow.
- Return to Milo and confirm the connection with a small task, as described below.
Start with Google Workspace for Gmail, Calendar and Google files, or Microsoft 365 for a Microsoft work account. If the connection you need is unavailable, contact support to confirm the setup supported for your account.
Review the requested access
| Type of access | What it can enable |
|---|---|
| Read | Find information and use it as context. |
| Create or edit | Prepare or change records and files. |
| Send | Deliver messages or invitations under your instructions. |
| Membership or directory | Resolve people and understand who is in a conversation. |
The exact permissions vary by provider and connection flow. Read the consent screen rather than assuming a connection includes every action.
Confirm with a small task
After connecting, try a task whose answer you know, such as finding a specific document or summarizing a named message. Check both the account and the source returned.
If the task needs access you did not grant, review the connection before trying again. Some newly available capabilities require reconnecting to approve additional access.
Disconnecting stops access through that connection. It is separate from deleting information already stored in Hexagon. See Disconnect an account.
