# Connected knowledge

Use original evidence and preserve the conditions that change an answer.

Connected knowledge brings relevant information from messages, documents and systems into the work. Its purpose is to make the evidence behind an answer usable, including the source and the conditions that qualify it.

The right answer may depend on several records that each explain a different part of the situation.

## Ask a source-aware question

> Can this customer rollout proceed? Compare the project plan, readiness checklist and latest approval discussion. Identify open requirements and include the sources for your conclusion.

A date in a plan might be a target. The checklist might show an unfinished requirement. The discussion might identify the person who must approve the work. Review the answer across those sources.

## Keep exceptions with the rule

A policy's general rule may have an exception that changes the result. Ask for both:

> Check this request against the current travel policy. Identify the applicable rule and any exception, and explain which details of the request determine the answer.

Verify the policy version and whether the exception applies to this request. A rule for one business purpose may not apply to another.

## Handle gaps explicitly

If a source cannot be accessed, treat the conclusion as incomplete until the missing evidence is supplied or the responsible owner confirms it. If sources disagree, surface the disagreement instead of combining them into an unsupported certainty.
